About the Department for Correctional Services
The Department employs approximately 2,000 staff and has responsibility for nine prisons and fifteen Community Correctional offices across the state. Our vision is for a safer community by protecting the public and reducing re-offending. Duties
The Community Corrections Officer is responsible for,
- Provision of key administrative support duties.
- The case management of offenders who are subject to Community Service, Home Detention, Probation, Bail or Parole who live in remote and sparsely populated areas of SA, and are referred to the Department by sentencing and releasing authorities;
- Liaison with a variety of Government and non Government agencies in relation to the supervision of offenders assigned to various work projects, including specific cost share work.
- Section 47 of the Public Sector Act 2009 applies in conjunction with other provisions of the act and other applicable industrial entitlements.
- The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete a National Criminal History Check;
- A current South Australian Driver’s Licence is essential;
- A flexible approach to working hours is required;
- Some interstate and intrastate travel will be required which may necessitate overnight absences.
- Appointees may be re-assigned to other locations within the region on an ongoing or temporary basis to perform duties of a similar nature and classification.
