A bit about the role
Wyndham City supports a vibrant community and community sector which has a number of community-managed community facilities. The Community Governance and Partnerships Officer role is to develop and maintain collaborative connections and strategic partnerships with community organisations managing community facilities to enhance community outcomes and achieve mutually beneficial objectives. You will identify and coordinate opportunities and resources that enable community organisations, community leaders and volunteers to build their governance capacity and support civic participation, community leadership, and organisational governance.
What you’ll deliver
- Develop and manage the formal agreements and relationships between Council, community managed community facilities and community organisations
- Develop and collaboratively deliver on frameworks, strategies, polices, and plans that support Council objectives and mutually beneficial outcomes for Council and community organisations managing community facilities
- Identify and coordinate opportunities that enable community organisations, community leaders and volunteers to build their governance capacity and support civic participation, community leadership, and organisational governance.
- Support organisations managing community facilities and community groups to strengthen connections with key organisations including Council, other spheres of government, peak bodies, and community agencies.
- Coordinate initiatives that celebrate and recognise Council’s partnerships with community managers and their volunteer boards of governance.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in coordinating key partnerships and collaborative action across community and government
- Collaboratively with community centres or other community organisations to achieve community outcomes.
- Sound knowledge of Community Governance in a community context
- Experience in building governance capacity of new and emerging community organisations.
