Overview of the role – Community Liaison Officer

This position is a part-time role (0.6 FTE) reporting directly to the Head of Community Experience (HOCE). It has primary responsibility for overseeing the schools messaging to the wider community, while building and maintaining a strong working relationship between members of the Muslim community and the College. This role helps to bring together activities which impact on the College’s relationships with its external community and includes alumni engagement, student/parent liaison and community engagement. An integrated approach to these activities is required to ensure that the wider community understands and supports the College’s vision and mission.

Key responsibilities:

Community Relations

  • Oversee community relations in line with the College’s Strategic Plan and ensure parents, alumni and the community are well connected to the College.
  • Ensure communication between the College and community groups is positive, proactive and achieves the desired outcomes for all parties.
  • Coordinate parent initiatives on behalf of the respective associations.
  • Oversee specific Community Relations/Engagement events, guaranteeing a high standard for attendees, while meeting the specific requirements of the School and demonstrating a sound understanding of the operational objectives.
  • Maintain the College’s valued reputation in the community and ensure this reflects the culture and aims expressed by HOCE.
  • Provide post event feedback and identify ways of improving future service, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Progress the existing community engagement programs to ensure ongoing community development.

Marketing Oversight

  • Daily follow-up with the marketing agency on retainer to ensure alignment with marketing strategies, goals, and deadlines. Weekly meetings.
  • Managing all social media platforms to maintain an engaging and cohesive online presence, including creating and scheduling content, responding to comments/messages, and analyzing metrics. Working with HOCE and Brand manager on a content strategy
  • Where appropriate, working with Marketing partner and other content producers on highly produced content
  • Developing and executing marketing campaigns across various channels (digital, print, events, etc.) to promote school programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Must include external channels, but also optimisation of all internal channels including Sentral and Canvas.
  • Creating templatised designs using Canva, and coordinating with graphic designers, copywriters in the retained agency create marketing collateral and materials as needed.
  • Providing regular reports and updates to stakeholders on marketing activities, performance metrics, and upcoming initiatives.

Social Media and Website oversight

  • Updating and maintaining the school website with relevant and up-to-date content, including news, events, program information, and multimedia resources.
  • Whilst all major structural changes to the site will be done through an agency, day-to-day content will be done internally.
  • Manage and support communication channels including social media, print, email and online.
  • Foster strong relationships with all key stakeholders including alumnae, parents, staff members and vendors.

Leadership program support

  • Work with Leadership Development Advisor to help deliver leadership programs across K-12
  • Responsible for seeing the implementation of the programs and initiatives to
  • support students in developing the knowledge and skills required to become change makers.
  • The role supports teachers in implementing the identified frameworks and practical experiences that improve leadership capacity in each of our learners.
  • The role entails following strategic school imperatives and developing capabilities of our learners to become leaders in various situations, be it school, extra-curricular activities and in their personal life as character development.
  • Includes engaging individual educators in well-defined and ongoing school leadership development programs.
  • Identify groups of individuals for further leadership development experiences.

General Duties

  • Support HOCE in the implementation of a variety of programs and initiatives across the school
  • Other tasks and duties required by the Community Experience team.

Education and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Strong ability to use Microsoft products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with a data management system (Synergetic or similar), customer relationship system and portal/web maintenance.
  • NSW Working with Children Check.

  • Demonstrate a high degree of computer skills; experience in user databases (pref. Synergetic) and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to manage conflicting and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrate high professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and within a thriving team environment whilst displaying initiative.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends, is essential.
  • A warm and engaging manner, with a sense of humour.
