Orana has played a vital role in supporting South Australians with disability for over 70 years. We deliver independent living support, employment, housing, training, short term accommodation, skill development programs and life skills support to over 650 South Australians with disability.
About The Position:
The Community Options Coach will provide person-centred support to people with disability in our Port Augusta Options Program. The role will support and encourage a positive, engaging, and interactive environment for people with disability enabling them to achieve their community and recreation goals.
Please note that this position is based on a casual contract.
About You:
Our ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience working with people with disability in a community or day setting. You will hold a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), or similar and be passionate about inclusion and diversity. You will possess a high level of communication and interpersonal skills and able to use your initiative and have the client’s needs at the forefront of your mind. You will be a strong advocate for our clients and able to provide an engaging experience for them in our programs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Promote an engaging experience for clients participating in Community Options.
- Enable clients to access the community and participate in programs and activities.
- Support the achievement of individual life learning, recreation and inclusion goals and aspirations.
- Advocate for the client as needed.
- Encourage clients to participate in activities and support their independence.
- Interpret and implement individual support plans.
- Provide basic personal care, life skills, transportation, social, educational, and other support as required.
- Assist clients with meals in accordance with their plans.
- Complete daily shift handovers for clients.
- Undertake any reporting, documentation and administration as required.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience working with people with disability in a community or day setting.
- Hold a Certificate III in Individual Support as a minimum.
- Strong communication skills in both written and verbal form.
- Able to use your initiative and a team player.
- Demonstrated administrative skills and competency in computer systems.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Hold a NDIS Worker Check or Disability Services Employment Screening.
- Hold a Current DHS – Working with Children Check.
- Hold a National Police clearance.
- Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Current Child Safe Environments certificate.
