Vibrant Diverse Cultures Incorporated (VDC Inc.) is a dynamic not-for-profit organization based in Palmerston, Northern Territory, committed to community capacity building and holistic well-being. Qualifications & experience

  • Certificate IV in Youth Work, Mental Health, or Community Services, or related fields, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing multiple complex needs, including psychiatric disability, homelessness, substance abuse, dual diagnosis, ABI, and financial disadvantages, with the ability to manage risk.
  • Understanding of the Trauma Informed Care Framework and experience in broad case management practices from a recovery-focused and person-based approach.
  • Ability to engage with people respectfully, demonstrating cultural safety and awareness, particularly with First Nation and CALD background individuals.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Awareness or understanding of mental health issues and social inclusion, or the aptitude to acquire knowledge.
  • Full unrestricted NT driver's license and personal vehicle.
  • Valid Working with Children Check.
  • Valid First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, or ASSIST training preferred.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Assist with program facilitation, mentoring, and program redevelopment/evaluation meetings.
  • Engage in all-day community activities, evening events, full-day trips to remote communities, overnight stays in remote communities, and weekends as required.
  • Report to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain a direct service caseload as determined by the Project Manager.
  • Work flexible shifts i.e day and overnight remote trips (must be available to travel in July 2024), day and night community events, weekends and Public Holidays

  • Contribute as a positive, collaborative, and active member of the management team.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, complying with OH&S policies and procedures.
