The Role   

In this role you would be responsible for the direction, delivery, and growth of the partnership with Jabiru Area School. This partnership is an essential element to CGS’ operations in Kakadu, providing access for CGS students to be immersed into life in a remote community, while also facilitating improvements in both schools, as a direct result of the partnership.  

In addition to this, the Community Partnerships Manager will aid CGS students’ opportunities to build and nurture relationships with other community organisations such as the Stars and Clontarf Foundations, FaFT, WARC, ALPA and Jabiru Bombers Footy Club; providing opportunities for connection through service learning or through participating in and supporting community events in Kakadu. 

The role would also require time spent working as a Remote Programs teacher with the CGS Kakadu Program; delivering inquiry-based learning experiences in an experiential learning and residential program setting.  

This is a permanent, fulltime opportunity based at Jabiru Campus in Northern Territory.  

Key Duties 

  • Implementing the program with staff at the CGS remote base, work with the Remote Programs Leadership team to lead the proactive and reactive strategies to learners' medical, pastoral, learning and behavioral care. 
  • Teaching a specialty area at Jabiru Area School to students ranging from preschool age to secondary school, each class for the equivalent of two specialist lessons a week. 
  • Provide voice and choice where possible within the community activities for CGS students to access. 
  • Leading and coaching teachers, trainees, visiting teachers, and support staff in their engagement with the Jabiru Area School and other partner organisations. 
  • Leverage relationships within Jabiru Area School and CGS to maximise the potential of the partnership to improve outcomes for JAS indigenous students. 
  • Assist the Head of Kakadu to create and maintain a strong sense of trust, confidence and intimacy within and between the Remote Programs team, CGS staff, learners and their families. 
  • Manage parents in liaison with the HoDD. HOH and HOS  
  • Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours. 

Skills and Experience  

  • Previous experience working in remote environments as a qualified Teacher 
  • Demonstrated leadership in teaching and learning, curriculum development 
  • Capacity to work in a residential program setting would be advantageous. 
  • Build new and nurture existing stakeholder partnerships 
  • Pro-actively manage student and employee issues  
  • Establish & maintain an inclusive & supportive CGS community 
  • The ability to obtain a NT teacher registration and an Ochre card (NT version of WWCC) 
  • A light rigid bus licence will be required 
  • Wilderness First Aid Certification 
  • Ability to teach music, dance and/or drama would be desirable
