We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join us as a Community Safety Investigations Coordinator. In this role, you will lead a newly developed team of Community Safety Investigators in undertaking complex investigations to improve community well-being and safety.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Provide effective leadership to the Community Safety Investigators, ensuring specialised operational leadership that facilitates positive Community Safety outcomes.
  • Exercise legislated authority under relevant legislation, including but not limited to the Dog & Cat Management Act, Local Nuisance & Litter Control Act, and others.
  • Provide specialist technical advice to investigators, other sections/departments, and the public on highly complex Community Safety matters.
  • Act as an escalation point for Community Safety Investigators and coordinate highly complex operations, including the planning and execution of seizures of animals.
  • Lead and coordinate operational Community Safety programs to meet legal obligations and deliver positive outcomes to the community.
  • Provide after-hours support to Community Safety Officers and Investigators as needed.
  • Prepare investigation briefs for court proceedings and represent Council as required.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • A qualification in investigations (or equivalent).
  • Significant experience within a complex Community Safety or regulatory role.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking highly complex investigations.
  • Training and experience in conflict management, negotiation and mediation.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably in Community Safety, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory obligations and compliance requirements related to Community Safety.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide support and direction to a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

This is a Level 6 position which has a current salary range of $109,121 - $116,699 per annum (plus superannuation).
