Our Host Employer is located in Mackay. Working with a local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander support service provider we are seeking applications for their new Community Service opportunities.
This entry level opportunity is suited to someone who has a strong work ethic, loves making a difference within the local community and is eager to learn more about the Community Services Industry.
Community Workers work with or for the benefit of the community and help ensure that the social and community fabric supports individuals and groups in the community. Responsibilities of Community Workers might include assisting the community to meet its own needs, enhancing the skills of individuals and/or groups within the community, and developing and maintaining programs to meet community needs. Community Workers mainly work either with groups (community development work) or with individuals (Community Services work).
About the position:

- A full time position that will provide formal on the job training
- You will be allocated a dedicated CNGE Engagement Officer who will support you throughout your Traineeship
- At the successful completion of the role you will graduate with a nationally recognised qualification.
Requirements:
You will learn to;
- Liaise with clients, families and other providers
- Liaise with other support providers to help support outcomes for clients
- Contribute information for the development/care of support plans/ event plans
- Provide a high level of personalised customer service
- Write job reports and evaluations
- Adhere to all Work Health Safety policies and procedures
- Complete all related Training work and study associated with the Traineeship, and learn;
- the foundations and content to develop skills and knowledge used in the Community Services Industry
To be successful in your application you will:
- Have a genuine interest in working with the community
- Have good interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to commit to work and study
- Some experience in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, outlook and PowerPoint an advantage
- Hold a Blue Card
- Current driver's licence and/or reliable transport
- Committed to the study component of the Traineeship
- Hold a current Drivers Licence (preferred but not essential)
All applicants must be entitled to work in Australia, eligible to commence a Certificate III in Community Services Traineeship and be prepared to undergo a criminal history check
