About Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3
Gold Coast Light Rail has transformed public transport on the Gold Coast, helping create an integrated network that connects more people to more places in one of Australia's most dynamic and fastest growing cities.
John Holland is GoldlinQ's nominated design and construction contractor for GCLR3, to extend the existing light rail network by 6.7kms from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads, including eight new light rail stations, two new light rail-bus connections, and intersection upgrades along the alignment.
Jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments, and the City of Gold Coast, this city-shaping project will link communities to business centres, shopping, dining, education and medical facilities and cater to the Gold Coast's expected population growth in the coming decades.
As construction of GCLR3 gets under way, John Holland is actively recruiting for a talented and driven Community Engagement Advisor to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of this iconic Gold Coast project.
Responsibilities of the role include

  • Work to become an on-the-ground Communications and Engagement Specialist supporting the precinct community team
  • General communications and media relations
  • Work closely with the traffic, construction and delivery team to develop then implement site-specific Communication Action Plans
  • Apply specialist writing skills to prepare quality written materials for target groups impacted by works including works notifications, fact sheets, articles for newsletters and more
  • Support, participate in and provide content for rolling program of engagement communication activities
  • Manage, escalate and close out complaints in line with agreed timeframes and procedures
  • Become a direct liaison about project construction activities with the impacted stakeholders and the general public
  • Support the rollout of community information sessions
  • Support door knocks, letter box drops and other engagement tactics as required
  • Participate in the community hotline contact roster
  • Provide generalist Communications support to the project
To be successful in this key role, you must have
  • Previous experience working in a similar Stakeholder Engagement role, delivering infrastructure projects
  • A Bachelors Degree in Communications, Law, Business, Journalism or equivalent experience experience
  • Willing and able to commit to supporting the teams 24/7 community contact line
