ABOUT THE HAYMARKET FOUNDATION
The Haymarket Foundation is a local, secular, charitable organisation that provides a range of services to people experiencing homelessness and other disadvantage.
We exist to provide opportunities to people marginalised by society. We understand the people we work with come from a background of complex trauma, and we use this understanding to advocate and deliver multidisciplinary services that are inclusive, safe, trauma informed and offer freedom of choice.
THE ROLE
We are currently seeking motivated and adaptable individuals to join our team. As a Community Support Worker within our Crisis Accommodation Service at The Haymarket Centre, you will provide support and stabilisation for people experiencing complex homelessness within a residential setting.
Position Information: Our residential programs operate 24-hours a day, 7 days a week on a 3-shift roster (morning, afternoon & overNight Shift). This position will primary be to fill the 10:30pm-7:00am awake shift, but other shifts can be negotiated as well. The position reports to the Centre Manager and will work closely with other residential services staff. The program is located at Chippendale and has a salary and conditions as per Grade 3 of the SCHADS Award (including applicable loadings).
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
ESSENTIAL (E), DESIRABLE (D) -
- A minimal qualification (diploma or tertiary degree), or working towards, in AOD, Social Work, or related health field. (D)
- A therapeutic understanding of trauma informed practice and other therapeutic interventions. (E)
- Demonstrated communication skills, specifically in client rapport building and systematic advocacy. (E)
- Experience working with complex clients in a residential setting. (D)
- An understanding and knowledge of issues faced by people with complex unaddressed trauma. (E)
- National criminal record check. (E)
- Working with Children Check. (E)
- Disclosure of any restrictions that impact upon your role as a practitioner in a setting such as The Haymarket Centre. (E)
- Proven ability to engage with clients and to set clear professional boundaries. (E)
- Ability and commitment to work in a team approach. (E)
- Willingness to work overnight (awake) shifts from 10.30pm – 7am. (E)
- COVID19 vaccination certificate. (E)
