As a Computer Vision Engineer you'll be joining a global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of wear products and services for mining equipment.

What's the Role:
You will be responsible for the planning and execution of (visual) perception-based solutions for the mining sector in line with Bradken strategies and objectives. You will provide expert technical advice and support including, but not limited to, conceptualization, development and support of Vision-based monitoring systems, integration with associated systems including Bradken cloud-hosted software, edge hardware and/or 3rd party systems.
You will have solid understanding of classical Computer Vision (CV), perception hardware and image processing techniques, combined a deep know-how of cutting-edge Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms.
You will have excellent communication skills and will work closely with other development teams (internal and external) to build Edge and Digital solutions in line with agreed solution architectures. You will be responsible for obtaining quotations, developing budgets and CAPEX’s pertaining vision-based solutions.
You will influence, manage, and oversee vendors, suppliers and/or R&D partners.
You will have great attention to detail, will create datasets, simulation, and benchmarking tools to enable rapid yet well-proven incremental improvement on existing systems. You will be responsible for the preparation of technical documentation and training regarding the use of products or processes and administer change management at all levels.
As a Key Technical Criteria:
- Experience in designing, prototyping, testing and deploying vision-based systems.
- Experience deploying vision systems within the mining sector and/or similar harsh environments required.
- Demonstrable experience or exposure to hardware development and/or system integration.
- Demonstrable experience in complex problem-solving and root cause analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of the Computer Vision landscape, including classical and novel algorithms, vision hardware (operating principles, notable specifications, optical and computational setups), CV libraries (OpenCV, Pytorch, TensorFlow) and benchmarking tools.
- Advanced programming skills (C++, Python[AM1]).
The role can be based in Brisbane or Newcastle or Sydney.
