Our client is looking for a Confined Space Worker specialising in cooling tower cleaning. Your primary responsibility will be to safely and effectively maintain the cooling towers. These essential structures play a crucial role in cooling systems that are fibreglass. Your work will involve entering Confined spaces within cooling towers to perform maintenance tasks, cleaning and ensuring their efficient operation while mitigating health and safety risks.
Your new role
- Confined Space Entry and Safety:
- Assess whether the task involves entry into a Confined space within the cooling tower.
- Conduct a Confined space risk assessment, including the completion of a Confined space entry permit.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety control measures.
- Understand the risks associated with Confined spaces, such as toxic chemicals, slippery surfaces, and exposure to electricity.
- Cooling Tower Maintenance and Cleaning:
- Performing cleaning, maintenance, and repair tasks inside cooling towers.
- Safely handle components such as basins, fill packs, drift eliminators, fans, and water distribution systems.
- Remove debris, scale, and biofilm buildup from cooling tower surfaces.
- Inspect and replace damaged or worn parts as needed
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience: Prior experience working with cooling towers is highly desirable.
- Confined space ticket
- Skills: Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in challenging environments.
