Greenville Landscaping & Environmental are seeking expressions of interest from individuals who are passionate about plant ecology and biodiversity management for our Field Crew. We have two full-time positions to fill. The Field Crew's primary role is fulfilling management plans for private sector clients throughout Victoria in a wide variety of landscapes. Applicants should be highly motivated individuals who enjoy the outdoors and physical work, be passionate about our natural environment, embrace coaching and are keen to learn about the natural environment, ecology and management techniques.
We manage over 1,000 hectares of covenanted conservation land. That is, private land that is protected in perpetuity for the betterment of the environment. Most of these sites are west of Melbourne stretching from grasslands by the slopes of the You Yangs, herb rich forest at Morrisons that is blanketed by orchids, and Grey Box grassy woodlands at Parwan that forms part of the Parwan Gorge Conservation Precinct, and a biolink in Glenmore that allows the movement of native flora and fauna between the Brisbane Ranges and Werribee Gorge. We also manage a site in East Gippsland. Primary tasks of the Field Crew include:
Herbicide application via spray rig and backpacks.
Ecological burns
Planting and maintenance of planted areas.
Identification of flora and fauna.
Chainsaw use.
Brush cutting
Hand weeding
Pest animal control.
GIS mapping.
Travel to and from management sites.
Essential skills and requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience.
Enjoy physical work and in all weather.
Comfortable following direction and working under supervision.
Able to work collaboratively, safely and productively in small groups, and on occasion individually in an autonomous manner.
Practical intuition.
Can actively problem solve
Ability to identify workplace risks and manage in accordance with company safety policies and procedures.
Punctual and reliable, well presented and professional manner of conduct.
Desirable skills and certificates:
Knowledge of various herbicides, their applications and safe use.
Current manual driver’s licence.
Agricultural Chemical Users Permit (ACUP).
First Aid Level 2.
Chainsaw Users Certificate
Strong plant identification skills and the ability to quickly learn new species.
Experience working or volunteering in conservation or land management
Experience in safe handling of chainsaws, brushcutters and other power tools.
Plant survey experience.
