As part of the Environment and Heritage Branch, the Natural Areas Conservation (NAC) business unit is responsible for managing, restoring, conserving, and showcasing the City’s 13,784ha natural areas estate, which contains significant and diverse environmental and cultural values.
About the role
As our next Conservation Management Planner, under the guidance of the Team Leader for Natural Area Conservation, you will have the opportunity to contribute conservation and natural area land management expertise to both the NAC unit and the broader organisation. Ideal for individuals with a passion for ecology and conservation, this role involves providing essential services in preserving and managing natural habitats, including a variety of flora and fauna monitoring projects, fire ecology, bushfire management projects, and nature-based recreation planning.

We’re looking for people who have:
- Demonstrated project management experience, in particular excellent time management skills and highly developed capacity to manage and deliver multiple projects on time, within budget and to a high standard.
- A collaborative approach, who enjoys working in a team environment and can provide a valuable contribution to team activities and discussions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with colleagues within the business unit and wider organisation.
- Experience in the City's procurement processes, including the creation of consultancy briefs and other procurement related documentation.
- Demonstrated experience in natural area management, nature based recreation planning and conservation planning, including a knowledge of the relevant legislation, strategies and plans impacting upon the LGA and wider region.
- Bachelor of Science/Environmental Science or equivalent experience.
