Sitting within the open space team, the bushland and foreshore team manage councils natural assets and an indigenous plant nursery. The nursery provides an educational outlet and locally sourced propagated plants.
About the Role
We are seeking a Conservation Officer - Nursery to join the bushland and foreshore team. Reporting to Lee James, Bushland Coordinator you will:
- Ensure propagation of quality stock and carry out regular inspections of Council’s nursery as part of the work audit system and maintain accurate quality assurance records.
- Undertake a broad range of nursey maintenance and development tasks in accordance with agreed standards, practices, and procedures.
- Provide indigenous nursery conservation education to all Bushland and Foreshore Conservation Officers.
- Coordinate, supervise and provide indigenous nursery conservation education to “Friends Of” groups, school groups and other community groups/individuals undertaking volunteering in the nursery.
About you
We are looking for someone with:
- Qualification and /or relevant experience in indigenous plant propagation
- Good Ecological Vegetation Class and plant ID skills.
- Ability to share knowledge and provide guidance to other employees
- Ability to self-organise and work independently with limited supervision

The salary for this position starts at $70,143.91 (Band 4) per annum (pro-rata) plus superannuation.
