The hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for the region. Specialist services include Emergency Medicine, ICU, anaesthetics, cardiology, paediatrics, O&G, surgery, medicine and psychiatry. A range of clinical services is also provided on a visiting basis from tertiary hospitals in Queensland.
The Emergency Department sees an average of 50,000 presentations per annum and 25% are paediatric. As a regional referral hospital, the department sees many critically unwell and trauma cases and works closely with the Royal Flying Doctor's Service.
The Job
- As a Consultant in Emergency Medicine, you will provide high-quality, safe emergency medical care in all clinical areas of the department
- You will join a positive and enthusiastic team of 9.5 FTE FACEMs, 4.0 FTE FACRRMs and 1.0 FTE SMO
- You will encourage, develop and support innovation across the health service to encourage better patient outcomes
- You will have the opportunity to supervise and provide teaching to specialist trainees, medical students, and junior medical staff
- You will participate in the ED extended hours roster and the 24-hour call roster
- ED Consultants may be required to provide clinical services at any facility within the health service
- You will maintain up-to-date skills, continuing professional development and knowledge in Emergency Medicine
- Total remuneration value of $358,662 - $532,265 p.a.
