Join a 236-bed regional hospital that services 10 rural hospitals and multi-purpose health facilities across the region. The health service is embarking on an exciting period of growth with a $250m redevelopment of the base hospital to provide an additional 112 inpatient beds and an expansion of outpatient and support services.Cardiac Services are provided by a team of FTE 5.0 Cardiologists (4 x Interventional & 1 x Non-Interventional), 6 Principal House Officers/Registrars (including 2 x Advanced Trainee), 4 Junior /Senior House Officers and 3 interns and provides cardiology services to a local population of 180,000. The department is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for cardiology advanced training status. A wide range of cardiology diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are provided including Echo, TOE with 3D capacity, stress echo, Dobutamine, CTCA, Cardiac MRI, coronary intervention and pacing device implantation.
The Job
- The cardiology department provides a full range of interventional, non-interventional and pacing services
- The Cardiac Catheterisation Suite is equipped with a modern facility with IVUS, OCT and FFR
- The Cardiac Investigations Unit - is equipped with 3 echo machines with 3D imaging capability, including transoesophageal echocardiography and stress echo
- Other services offered included Holter, Ambulatory BP monitoring, Stress testing and Event Recorders
- Cardiac surgical input is from the region's tertiary referral hospital with a weekly heart team conference
- Onsite CTCA and cardiac MRI services
- 8 beds dedicated CCU
- Heart Failure/Titration Service
- Weekly video-conference link to tertiary education programs such as ECG morning run and Echo forum
- Short stay unit for low-risk chest pain admission
- As a Consultant Non-Interventional Cardiologist, you will assist the Clinical Director in the provision of high-quality clinical services as part of the Unit/Department
- You will have the opportunity to educate medical staff and students, allied health, interested community groups and nursing staff
- You will actively participate in patient safety, audit, research and service planning activities
- Total remuneration up to $514,452
