Job description

Provide specialist paediatric cardiology care to both inpatient and ambulatory patients within the Paediatric Department of the Royal Darwin Hospital, regional hospitals and remote communities; and to contribute to post graduate education at Royal Darwin Hospital, including the supervision of paediatric trainees.
Provide specialist paediatric cardiology care of infants, children and young adults admitted at the Royal Darwin Hospital including afterhours cover.
Conduct regular paediatric cardiology outpatient sessions at the Royal Darwin Hospital and in remote communities.
Supervise and report on inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms, 24-hour Halter monitors ECG, Stress test and pacemaker checks.
Provide specialist paediatric cardiology advice to colleagues in geographically isolated centres in the NT.
Participate in continuous medical education including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, professional development, peer review, research, and quality improvement activities.
Collaborate with other medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues to review and revise policies, procedures and guidelines in line with national and international recommendations.
Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP); Paediatric Cardiology.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact positively in a team and in a cross-cultural work environment.
Flexibility; an ability to work in a complex and unpredictable environment.
A demonstrated interest in and a commitment to improving Indigenous health and an understanding of rheumatic heart disease.
Evidence of commitment to continuing education, teaching, research and quality improvement activities.
