Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE:
  • Fixed Part time hours for 12 month contract (to be extended by mutual agreement)
  • To provide excellence in the delivery of clinical service in the discipline of consultation and liaison (CL) & emergency mental health (EMHS)
  • To work in strong partnership with members of the Medical Staff in the provision of integrated and coordinated health services
  • involvement in the training of registrars in the FRANZCP program
  • opportunity to Participate in medical students teaching from University of Notre Dame
  • Successful applicants will be expected to be able to provide high quality clinical care operating autonomously.
ABOUT YOU:
  • Current registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Fellow with Royal Australia & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (essential)
  • It is desirable but not a must to have experience in management of clinical care in an acute general hospital and emergency setting
  • Provide high level of quality clinical care
  • Demonstrated high level of professionalism and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Mercy Mental Health (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care. Mercy Mental health operates at multiple locations. The acute, consultation & Liaison and Emergency Mental health Services are available at Footscray and Werribee. Services to adults are through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.
