We are pleased to announce a unique and exciting position at Perth Children's Hospital for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist within the Paediatric Consultation and Liaison Service, specialising in assessment and limited treatment of the mental health needs of 0–16-year-olds admitted to Perth Children’s Hospital under a Medical or Surgical team.
About the Service: The Paediatric Consultation-Liaison (PCL) Service at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) is a specialised mental health team dedicated to delivering targeted psychiatric consultation and support for paediatric inpatients aged 0-16 years within the hospital's paediatric units. While certain paediatric patients with mental disorders can receive management from the primary admitting unit and allied health professionals, including psychologists, the Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry Service augments the capabilities of paediatricians in managing complex mental health presentations.
About the Role: As a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Psychiatry. Your contributions will extend to teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities within the inpatient unit. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality psychiatric consultation and liaison services for infants, children, and adolescents admitted to PCH, addressing both primary and comorbid mental health concerns.

- Actively contribute to teaching, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
What We're Looking For: The ideal candidate will be registered, or eligible for specialist registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Fellowship with the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent specialist recognition is essential. Completion (or approaching completion) of the Certificate in Advanced Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (RANZCP) or equivalent is highly desirable.
