Job description

This is for a Sessional appointment at 3 sessions per fortnight for up to 5 years with the possibility of extension(s).

Do you want to be a part of a team that promotes and improves the health of its people and community?  Women and Newborn Health Service (WNHS) inspires to be a trusted and valued leader in health services for women, newborns, families and the community, so that we deliver world-class, innovative and comprehensive health care to Western Australia.

North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) fosters an environment of equity and inclusion and strives to ensure everyone experiences a sense of belonging.  We celebrate the rich diversity of our community and are committed to recruiting a team that is reflective of those we care for. We encourage anyone who aligns with our values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, Innovation and Care to apply for this role.

NMHS is committed to growing the Aboriginal workforce as a part of our Aboriginal Health and Wellbeing Strategy.  As a measure to achieve equality, Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 applies to this position.

NMHS upholds the social model of disability.  If you have any access needs or require adjustments to participate in the recruitment process, please contact Dr Julia Feutrill via email **************@health.wa.gov.au.

About this role

This position provides a radiological reporting service in Breast Cancer screening, detection and management. The central radiology reporting rooms are in Perth CBD.

This role reports to the Director – BreastScreen WA.

What we are looking for

A highly capable and values-driven medical professional to join our dynamic BreastScreen WA team at Women and Newborn Health Service (WNHS). You will be a driven and innovative individual whose actions, interactions and partnerships achieve high quality patient care. You will have the opportunity to embody the NMHS Values and make a real difference by providing safe quality care through expertise and teamwork.

While your qualifications and experience tell us part of your story, your values and attitude speak louder still. At NMHS, we aim to ensure our behaviours reflect our core values: Care, Respect, Innovation, Teamwork and Integrity.  During the selection process you will be assessed on your ability to fulfil the responsibilities of this position while upholding our values.

Area Profile

The BreastScreen WA program provides free screening mammograms to asymptomatic women and specifically targets women aged 50 to 74 years, as the scientific evidence of benefit from screening mammography is greatest for women in this age group. However, all women 40 years or over are eligible to attend.

Since March 1989 more than 2 million screening mammograms have been performed at a BreastScreen WA service.

BreastScreen WA has thirteen permanent screening clinics located at Albany, Bunbury, Cannington, Cockburn, David Jones Rose Clinic (Perth city store), Joondalup, Mandurah, Midland, Mirrabooka, Padbury, East Perth (Mardalup), Rockingham and Wanneroo.

Four mobile BreastScreen WA services visit about 100 outer metropolitan and rural towns every two years. Some towns are visited annually.

The Program is part of the national BreastScreen Australia program and is governed by the National Accreditation Standards.  In Western Australia, the state wide program is under the jurisdiction of the North Metropolitan Health Service of the Health Department of Western Australia.
