• Indicative Total Remuneration: $359,094 - $608,425 (pro rata, Subject to Private Practice Arrangements) MDO2 | Full Time, Until February 2025

An exciting opportunity has become available for a talented Consultant to join the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Team!
The Consultant for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery provides a clinical service within the Plastic & Reconstructive Service in association with the other medical personnel (7 other consultants, 5 registrars and 5 junior doctors). Responsibilities include the provision of specialised care in consulting and emergency clinics, operative surgery, and inpatients. The position contributes to services in the management of patients, is involved in teaching programs relevant to the discipline, and will support audits, clinical practice improvement programs, and programs of innovation including research.
About the Role:
As the Consultant for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, your duties may include:

• Providing appropriate specialist level care to patients
• Coordinating the follow up care of patients.
• Providing clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers, and Medical Students
• Contributing to an after-hours on-call service in accordance with a roster agreed by the Department Director
• Overseeing the smooth functioning of the clinical area when at work

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
• Appropriate Specialist Qualification (FRACS) and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration (Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon)
• Experience to include clinical work in the specialty, teaching and research
• Hands plastics experience
• Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.

Plastic surgeons with previous experience in Gender affirming surgery are preferred.
