We are looking for an experienced Consulting Arborist for our Arboriculture and Urban Forestry consultancy based in Hawthorn. 

The role includes:

• Assessing and reporting on trees for
  • planning referrals
  • risk assessments
  • tree data collection
  • auditing tree works
• Reviewing tree reports for planning referrals
• Auditing arboriculture reports 
• Preparing policies and procedures for tree management
• Project arborist services. 

We seek someone with the following qualifications:

• Minimum AQF level 5 in arboriculture
• Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ)
• Preferred tertiary qualification in arboriculture
• Associated qualification such as planning or landscape architecture.

We seek someone with the following skills and qualities:

• High level of tree knowledge, including tree identification, tree physiology, and industry standards
• Experience working with trees in the public realm, either in local government or consulting to government
• Knowledge of and experience with local government planning schemes
• Knowledge of and practical experience with GIS
• High-level written communication skills
• Professional communication and behaviour
• Will become part of our small team for the long term
• Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel; GIS experience preferred
• Able to undertake projects and work as directed as well as independently manage projects
• Good problem-solving skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Driver’s licence
• Industry construction card (White Card) desirable.
