Mildura Base Public Hospital (MBPH) invite applications from the community to be a member of the Consumer Advisory Committee. MBPH are looking for diverse community groups to be represented across the region. 

PURPOSE OF THE CONSUMER ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Consumer Advisory Committee operates as the primary consumer body assisting MBPH in meeting the healthcare needs of its community(s) by providing a consumer perspective. The Committee assists the communication and connection of the MBPH Board and Chief Executive Officer to the community, and assists in identifying community priorities, interests, needs and service opportunities. 

MEMBER PURPOSE

The Consumer Advisory Committee member will share, with other members, a lead role in advocating for evaluation and continuous improvement of consumer engagement practice at MBPH. 

The role of the Consumer Advisory Committee member is, but not limited to:

  • Develop strategies to enhance and promote community participation;
  • Ensure that MBPH is advised on priority areas and issues regarding consumers and community participation or matters of community interest or concern; 
  • Raise awareness to the community of the Consumer Advisory Committee and its role; 
  • Ensure a commitment to positive consumer experiences and the delivery of safe, high quality, care and services at MBPH. 

MEMBER COMMITMENTS

The Consumer Advisory Committee members will be required to:

  • Attend and prepare for bi-monthly meetings, a minimum of five meetings a year, in addition to completing tasks, follow up actions and providing advice in a timely and considered manner as required outside of formal meetings;
  • Undertake all background reading, attend training or seminars and participate in other development activities that support informed participation on the CAC; 
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy.

  • Outcome focussed when dealing with a varied agenda;
  • Able to deal with competing priorities and effectively manage time; 
  • Able to provide constructive feedback, share knowledge and work toward consensus;
