THE ROLE:
We are seeking a proactive professional experienced Automation/ Controls Engineer, to assist with production support of critical, PLC/CNC machinery and to perform routine maintenance, attend to breakdowns, and fault-finding work in close liaison with OEM principals.
Confident electrical problem diagnosis along with a high degree of computer use, an electrical trade qualification along with post school, tertiary qualifications, and a desire to learn are essential.
Protube Engineering (ABN 46 089 353 524) is located in Kent Town SA 5067.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Production support of critical metal working machinery.
- Software usage assistance.
- Operational advice.
- Software maintenance releases and updates.
- Troubleshooting and problem diagnosis.
- Breakdown support.
- Installation, commissioning, FAT and SAT.
- Routine servicing of mechanical systems.
- Routine servicing of CNC and PLC control systems.
- General maintenance and servicing of industrial machines.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements across all infrastructure.
- Comply with relevant statutory/legislative codes and Australian Standards for safe operation of all equipment.
- Ensure documentation is kept up to date, including work procedures, operation and maintenance manuals and Safe Work Method Statements.
ABOUT YOU:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Over 5 years of hands-on experience in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming, testing, and commissioning.
- Proficient with Siemens, Allen Bradley, Schneider PLCs, and TIA Portal is highly preferred.
- Proficient with Siemens and Fanuc CNC systems.
- Proficient in industrial communication protocols including Profinet, Profibus, DeviceNET and EtherCAT.
- Experience in configuring and installing VFDs and Servo drives.
- Intimate knowledge of solid-state Induction heating/welding/brazing.
- Knowledge on safety programming.
- The ability to read and interpret manuals and electrical drawings.
- Collaborate with teams across multiple time zones.
- Demonstrable Project Management skills with a strong attention to detail
- An ability to work under pressure and display excellent customer service.
- Be a proactive self-starter who builds strong client relationships and understands the needs of your customer.
- Availability to travel interstate and internationally regularly and at times for prolonged period.
- Strong team player with clear communication.
- Proven organisational skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
- Knowledge of Risk assessments, SWMS and JSEAs.
- Must hold a current driver's license.
