AddressWe are currently seeking an experienced cook to join our fabulous childcare team.
The person will be required to prepare nutritional, creative and fun meals for our children.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 7.30am – 1.00pm (extra hours available & some flexability)
Experience preferred but not essential.
Must hold Working With Vulnerable People Card
Food safety certificate
The suitable cook must be able to:
- To comply with all local, state and federal laws relating to the childcare industry.
- To comply with requirements set by Foods Safety Standards Act.
- With the assistance of the director, prepare a menu on a weekly basis with a four week rotation, taking into consideration Possum Magic’s nutrition policies.
- Follow Possum Magic’s Food Safety Policy.
- To maintain open communication between staff and parents in regard to children’s special diets and allergies.
- Prepare food in accordance with a child's dietary requirements ie allergies
- To maintain a safe and clean environment for the preparation of meals.
- Organise shopping orders and the purchase of fresh food for the week.
- Checking the accuracy and freshness of foods delivered to the centre.
- Store all foods correctly and label as opened.
- Prepare all foods as per centre requirements.
- Assist other staff with the serving and clearing of foods after meals.
- Routine cleaning of kitchen appliances eg stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave oven.
- To prepare cooking activities for children.
- To be responsible for safety within the kitchen environment.
- To work as a team member.
- To greet parents and children on arrival.
- To maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Other duties as requested by the Director.
