This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.
To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued up to $10,000 (as taxable income).

What you'll be doing
Based at our Balranald Multipurpose facility, we have a fantastic opportunity for a team focused Cook to provide an effective and efficient catering service including providing meals for patients and aged care residents, and catering for functions while observing the principles of Nutrition and Health Standards. Your day will include:
  • Provide an effective and efficient catering service including providing meals for patients and aged care residents
  • Ensure equipment and chemicals are used correctly and the preparation of all cooking requirements such as meats, poultry, fish, cakes, pastries and sweets are prepared within the Work Health and Safety Guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures and Far West LHD Food Safety and Nutrition Program.
  • Ensure completion of daily food safety compliance forms and meal statistics.
  • Participate in daily cleaning of work areas and maintain a strict code of hygiene in the work area to comply with Infection Control policy and procedures.

About Balranald
Balranald is a beautiful rural town on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. It is a friendly atmosphere with great venues for barista coffee, a well renowned bakery and discovery centre. How to apply
To be considered for this position please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible.
  • Previous commercial catering experience or demonstrated ability to cook for large numbers and special diets.
  • Certificate in Use of Hygienic Practices for Food Safety or willingness to obtain.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of Food Safety Act including Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles. Strong understanding of Work Health and Safety in the work place, including Infection Control principles and Manual Hazardous Tasks.
  • Ability to work without supervision and as part of a team with the ability to work shift work, including early starts.
  • Experience in stock control, ordering and rostering.
  • Ability to work in culturally sensitive manner.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
