About the role:

Melville Cares is seeking a Cook/Support Worker who will work under the guidance of the Coordinator at our Friendship Club/Day centre, and will be responsible for preparing and serving healthy meals tailored to our clients' needs. Additionally, you'll support the smooth operation of the Friendship Club, fostering an environment of social engagement, independence, and lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients and the team to create balanced, nutritious menu plans.
  • Maintain records of dietary restrictions and special requirements.
  • Ensure timely preparation and presentation of appetising meals.
  • Uphold food safety standards and hygiene practices.
  • Manage food stock and order supplies as needed.
  • Assist with kitchen maintenance and cleaning tasks.
  • Support client engagement in meal preparation activities.
  • Aid with personal care and activities as required.
  • Help set up and pack up the Centre's activities.
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator to plan and organise recreational, physical, and educational activities, following clients' care plans.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, stimulating environment.

Essential Criteria:

  • Certificate III in Community Care, Aged Care, Individual Support, or related field.
  • Experience cooking in a Community Day Centre or Aged Care setting (preferred).
  • Knowledge of dietary nutrition requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Valid National Police Clearance and Driver’s License.
