We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our team at the Office of the Mayor and Councillors in the position of Coordinator Civic Affairs. This challenging and rewarding role will lead a team to deliver civic events and exceptional communications and engagement expertise to the Elected Members to be champions and leaders of our community.

You will work closely with the Executive Manager Communications and Civic Affairs and play an important role in supporting our Elected Members to effectively carry out their role as champions of our community, including delivery of strategic engagement opportunities, stakeholder management, coordination of key internal and external events, and communications support.
What you will bring to the team
  • Degree in marketing, communications, or related discipline.
  • Relevant work experience in related field, including supervising employees.
  • Experience in forward planning the development, coordination, and implementation of a diverse range of civic events and related engagement activities that align to strategic outcomes.
  • Experience in utilising procedures, systems, and policies to manage a diverse range of events, and reviewing these to recommend changes where appropriate.
  • Evaluation experience in the effectiveness and value of civic events and engagement activities.
  • Experience leading a highly functional team and adjusting workloads in line with office priorities and changing demands.
  • Experience with community engagement frameworks and associated processes.
  • Experience with Council policies and practices, Local Government legislation, Code of Conduct relating to Elected Members and managing the political relationship between Council and Administration.
The finer details
This full-time permanent Level 7 position attracts a salary range of between $100,090 to $106,351 gross per annum dependent on qualifications and experience.
