The Community Safety and Amenity Unit works with community stakeholders to provide services that assist in making the City a safe place.  The Community Health Team contributes to making the City a safe place through the effective assessment, monitoring, and enforcement of legislation and standards, such as the Public Health Act 2016, Food Act 2008, and Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations 1997.

About the Position

The Coordinator Health Approvals provides leadership and mentoring upon which the Community Health Team relies for achieving strong environmental health regulatory outcomes and best practices. Reporting to the Community Health Manager, the role will be responsible for the functional and operational management of the Health Compliance sub-team. 

In your role as the Coordinator Health Approvals, you will support the City by:

  • Managing the day-to-day compliance-related matters of the Community Health Service Team and providing support and advice to the Community Health Manager, ensuring strategic outcomes and the City's goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Supporting the Community Health Manager in the preparation of Unit business plans, and in reviewing Team practices, procedures, and systems to ensure legislative compliance and to achieve gains in productivity and customer service.
  • Ensuring timely assessment of applications including but not limited to, events, food businesses, public buildings, lodging houses, aquatic facilities, and skin penetration premises.
