The Coordinator, Project Management Services will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the organisations Project Management capabilities and contribute to its overall success. You will be responsible for the development, monitoring, and reporting of Council's capital works program, leading a team tasked with the development and implementation of our Project Management Framework.

What you'll be doing:

  • Driving the implementation and continuous improvement of the Project Management Framework, providing specialist Project Management support to the broader project community.
  • Managing the development, monitoring, refinement, and reporting of Councils capital works program.
  • Leading a team tasked with the roll out and ongoing provision of project and program management services to the Project Management Offices internal customers.
  • Improving Council's confidence and annual performance of its Capital Delivery Program.
  • Transitioning the Project Management Frameworks tools, processes, and capability programs to support the realisation of an enterprise-wide Project Management Office.
  • Leading the continuous improvement and application of Council's Project Management Framework, Project Management standards, methodologies, tools, procedures, governance, and know-how to enhance decision making, consistency and efficiency in portfolio delivery and project execution.
  • Leading the adaptation and application of the Project Management Framework to a whole of enterprise approach, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders to incorporate enterprise approaches to benefits management, stakeholder, and community engagement.
  • Fostering a culture of continuous improvement, facilitating the assessment of the PMOs performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Overseeing Council's capital and project portfolio, ensuring alignment with Councils strategic priorities, community needs and resources.
  • Monitoring the delivery and performance of portfolio and project delivery, assessing initiative status, risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • In consultation with internal stakeholders, develop and monitor Council's 10 year and annual Capital program, supporting the development, and monitoring of broader organisational and financial plans.
  • Evaluating and prioritising project requests based on strategic fit, benefits, feasibility and return on investment for consideration by respective decision authorities.

The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:

  • Extensive knowledge of project and program management methodologies, change management practices, and process optimisation techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and/or refining Project Management frameworks and enabling policies, tools and capability building programs together with their application to a project, program of works, or broader organisational context.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the delivery of infrastructure projects, and/or complex projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, develop and coach teams to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Sound knowledge of operational and financial analysis methods and techniques.
  • Expertise and knowledge of State and Local Government projects and policies relevant to this position, and/or the ability to seek out or establish links with current relevant projects and an excellent understanding of legal requirements, Acts and Regulations associated with services/functions managed by Council.
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills with outstanding communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and/or refining capital delivery programs requiring the application of stakeholder management and effective benefit and risk management practices.
