About the Position
Do you have a passion for urban ecology and sustainability? Are you dedicated to enhancing the natural environment in an urban setting? City of Canada Bay Council is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Open Space Business Unit as the Coordinator Urban Forest & Ecology. In this senior-level role, you will lead efforts to protect, preserve, and promote the biodiversity of our city.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance urban biodiversity and ecosystem health.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on sustainability initiatives.
- Manage and oversee biodiversity conservation projects and programs.
- Provide expert advice on ecological matters to support urban planning and development.
- Lead and mentor a team of dedicated environmental professionals.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards.
- Monitor and report on the progress of urban ecology initiatives.
- Balancing urban development with ecological preservation.
- Navigating complex regulatory and environmental considerations.
- Strategic planning for urban ecology initiatives.
- Resource allocation and budget management.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to determine ecological priorities.
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Ecology and AQF5 Diploma level arboriculture qualification.
- Extensive experience in urban ecology and sustainability management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and conservation practices.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
