Job description:

  • Temporary 12 months (35 hrs per week)
  • Location: Lidcombe - on site 5 days per week.
  • Departmental Professional Officer II base salary ($98,941 - $109,194), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

Your role

The Coronial Information and Support Program (CISP) is located at the NSW State Coroner's Office and provides services for the whole of New South Wales. CISP is designed to provide information and support to families where a death has been reported to the Coroner and to facilitate communication between the Coroner and persons who have contact with the coronial jurisdiction.

What you'll do

The Coronial Information and Support Program Officer is responsible for working in partnership with the Coordinator and other staff of the Coronial Information and Support Program (CISP)

Provide information and support to persons affected by deaths reported to the Coroner in New South Wales;

Facilitate communication between the Coroner and persons who have contact with the coronial jurisdiction; and

Provide short term Support and debriefing to staff employed within the coronial jurisdiction.

This is not a hybrid work arrangement and the position requires to be on site at Lidcombe.

What we're looking for

  • Providing accurate and timely information, Support and guidance for clients throughout the coronial process.
  • Providing appropriate referrals for clients to address additional counselling, legal and other support needs.
  • Promoting professional wellbeing by providing accurate and timely information, Support and guidance for Coroners Court staff.
  • Liaising with key stakeholders including the Department of Health, NSW Police Force, legal professionals and non-Government service providers.
  • Promoting awareness and understanding about coronial processes by contributing to professional and community education forums.
  • Contributing to efficiency activities within the Coroner's Court context, including system improvement to better address the needs of clients.

What you need

Tertiary qualifications in social work and post-admission professional experience in working with and providing support to bereaved families.

Extensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, public sector policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to the role.

Persons seeking to work at the Coroners Court need to be compassionate and empathetic and have a high level of personal resilience as the role involves exposure to sensitive and graphic content, including images, photographs and discussions relating to violence, death and/or homicide matters.
