We are pleased to announce that we are inviting candidate applications for the role of Analyst – Corporate Development. Our Development team exists to identify, analyse and drive key corporate strategy initiatives and critical corporate decisions, supporting the Group’s long-term business plan. This exciting and very rare opportunity will support the Head of Corporate Development on strategy development, opportunity assessment, analysis of critical corporate issues, typically spanning multiple business areas to create enterprise level impact.

You will collaborate with our senior leaders to drive the annual strategic plan, and also design and execute deployment of the strategy across the organisation. This role will have a strong interaction with the Executive Committee, CEO, Board of Directors and constant interface with our regional business leaders and global technology and marketing teams. The Development team has recently been experiencing strong demand from Orica’s presidents to drive value on mission-critical issues across Orica’s regions, products, manufacturing footprint and supply chain.

  • Support the business and Development team with the ongoing development of the corporate strategy and business unit strategies. 
  • Identify, analyse and provide insights on corporate and business unit related strategic initiatives (which may include M&A transactions), including performing analysis in areas such as commodities, financial performance, markets and competitors.
  • Develop presentations, financial models and board papers to present strategic logic and recommended pathways for major initiatives.
  • Project manage key workstreams for strategic initiatives.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in business, economics, finance or equivalent. Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, science or equivalent also highly regarded.
  • 2 - 4 years experience in or working with large, global businesses on complex/diverse transactions.
  • Experience from a recognised strategy consulting firm would be considered highly advantageous.
  • Experience in corporate and business strategy development.
  • Proven structured problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills. 
  • Advanced MS Excel based financial modelling capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to present strategic logic and recommended pathways, coupled with the ability to present to senior key stakeholders.
