AddressSilverstrand is seeking an experienced Cost Planner to become a key part in shaping the future of our business alongside an experienced team. You will be based in our Brisbane Head Office and employed on a permanent basis.
About the role:
Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for, but not limited to the below:
- Manage the full cost life cycle of projects from pretender to post completion of projects.
- Further analysis of pretender estimations using historic cost analysis from prior projects and suppliers.
- Assisting commercial and project teams with major variations and benchmarks project cashflow to ensure a minimum neutral position is established.
- Ensuring full scopes of risk are assessed and identified – working with the leadership team to ensure cost plans/ project costs are outlined in depth and building cost databases for project scopes.
- Strong understanding, integration and interpretation of Finance and Estimation scopes – with the combination aspect that maps out deliverables.
- Manage all cost and contractual matters ensuring project costs, revenues, claims, and supplier agreements are administered.
- Initiate, review, analyse plan and administer the closing of contracts
- Assist the tender process and occasionally prepare tender submissions including both commercial and non-commercial aspects.
- Working with the project team to ensure that the full suite of cost reports are available for review.
- Provide funding reports to the team with all commercial support necessary to ascertain the required timing of the funding intervals and all commercial information needed to back up these funding requests to management – including multiple option cost scenarios.
- Continual specification development, research and improvements to tendering process, quote creation and approvals, variation costing and finalisation accounting processes.
- Working closely with the project team to provide constructability reports and site-specific comparative estimates.
- Conducting contract negotiations with subcontractors & suppliers and managing significant claims and conflict resolution as required and Assist Project Managers to assess contract notices, claims, and disputes.
- Compile Delay and Disruption claims for submission.
- Involved in month end process with projects to ensure all reporting is accurate on Costs to Date, Forecast to Complete, tracking trends on movement of numbers.
Skills & Qualifications required:
- Minimum 3-5 year’s experience in a Cost Planner Role within the construction industry.
- Focus on maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders – internal and external.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline Quantity Surveying, engineering, construction / project management or commercial law.
- Accounting qualification highly regarded
- Experience with Tier 1 and 2 civil contractors both client side and contracting.
- Varied experience in project lifecycle delivery from tender through to completion.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Organisation and ability to maintain accurate and up to date records.
