Position: Counsellor/Advocate
Location: Gippsland Multi-Disciplinary Centre (Morwell) with outreach to GCASA locations as needed
Classification: Full-time (2 FTE), 76 hours per fortnight - 2 x positions available.
Initial Funding: 2 years

GCASA is an Incorporated Association, governed by a community-based Board and is funded to provide comprehensive sexual assault support services and sexually abusive treatment services across the Gippsland Region. Description:
Join GCASA to provide trauma-informed counselling and advocacy for individuals affected by sexual assault. Duties include risk assessment, intervention planning, crisis response, advocacy, and participation in quality improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will work within a supportive team environment, with a six-month probationary period offering regular supervision and performance reviews.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Degree in social welfare, counselling, psychology, or related field from an accredited provider.
- Minimum 2 years of trauma counselling experience with children and families.
- Understanding of sexual assault dynamics and gender dynamics.
- Proficiency in trauma-informed counselling, childhood development, feminist philosophy, and social inclusion theory.
- Strong record-keeping, administrative, and IT skills.
- Knowledge of legal requirements for client confidentiality and data protection.
- Willingness to travel, hold a Victorian driver’s license, and attend professional development in Melbourne.
- Current Fit2Work, police check, and Working with Children's check.
- Availability for Wednesday work and professional development sessions.
