Job description

About us:
Lutheran Services is a not-for-profit organisation that has been serving the people and communities of Queensland since 1935. We provide quality, contemporary care and support for people of all backgrounds, at more than 20 locations throughout Queensland.
Lutheran Services provides quality and contemporary support and accommodation for older people, young people and their families, people living with a disability or mental illness and families experiencing domestic violence and hardship.
Our dedicated workforce of nearly 1800 makes a difference to the lives of many people every day. We provide community services to children, young people and families. They bring our vision to life – helping those we serve to pursue the lives they hope for, and enabling the communities we are part of to thrive.
Located in Gympie, Cooinda is set against a beautiful country setting on 25 acres, nestled amongst bushland and surrounded by native wildlife.
About this role:
This is a part time role – 50 hours per fortnight
You will be part of a small team of Creative Lifestyle Facilitators and local volunteers with a breadth of talent and skills they draw upon to make a great program of offerings. There are so many things you might find yourself doing in this role, we can’t list them all here! You and the team will design, coordinate, and deliver a variety of individual and group creative lifestyle activities that engage all residents/clients in ways they can choose, that promote wellbeing and vitality. By assessing resident needs in collaboration with the individual, their families and other care staff, you will design, deliver and/or source activities that meet their social/cultural history and spiritual needs. You will enjoy the support of a network of peers in similar roles across our facilities, where you can draw on and share ideas, and stay up to date with research on what will benefit our residents.
What does a typical day look like for someone in your team? We asked one of Creative Lifestyle Facilitators and this is what they said:
“Usually very busy! Saying hello to the aged care residents and colleagues, delivering newspapers, running an exercise class, reading stories, playing a concert, and word games of some sort. I also spend quality time with residents who can’t make it to activities, and answer questions. I also serve meals and offer technical support for residents, such as setting up Zoom meetings. Oh, and laughing - a lot whenever possible!”, Ceri, Kingston Qld.
About you:
You will role model client-centred ways of working and demonstrate that how we work and what we do is all about the clients and what they need. You will enjoy the chance to explore different options and creative ways to allow residents to participate. You may have worked with other groups of people to create and deliver learning or social or cultural activities in the past, where the goal was for positive outcomes.
People will describe you as approachable, engaging, and warm and you hold unconditional positive regard for each person in this stage of their life. You will have demonstrated experience working with others to get things done. It doesn’t matter which creative passion or interest you have. What matters is that you will work to find ways for others to also experience joy and satisfaction from participating in something meaningful. A Certificate IV in Leisure and Health would be highly desireable.
What we can offer you:
A professional work environment in an organisation that genuinely cares, values dedication and performance.
You will receive:
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • Access to salary packaging increasing your take home pay
  • Good work life balance
  • Mileage allowance
  • Access to discounts, such as health insurance, holiday and travel, gym membership, IT and home appliances
  • Membership to our dedicated Employee Assistance Program.
How to apply:
Please complete the application form and the questions below and attach your resume.
