Established by Glenda Kickett, an Indigenous Social Worker with over 30 years of invaluable experience, Karla Kuliny embodies a culturally robust, child-centered, and trauma-informed approach to addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by First Nations children, youth, and families. Our focus areas encompass child protection, out-of-home care, and youth justice.

Our services extend to providing out-of-home care for foster children in Perth Metro and the Off and Racing Youth Service program, actively engaging in transformative initiatives for family support and youth well-being.
About the Role:
As the Cultural Lead, you will hold a pivotal position, providing cultural guidance and leadership within our Out of Home Care (OOHC) service. Your role involves overseeing the cultural aspects of service delivery, supervising staff, engaging stakeholders, and building community and organisational capacity.
Key Selection Criteria/About You:
For this role, you should possess:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification or extensive training in child, adolescent, and family clinical and cultural practice and frameworks within Aboriginal communities.
- Ability to build networks and relationships within Aboriginal contexts and communities.
- Knowledge and understanding of the social, cultural, and intergenerational issues for Aboriginal peoples and communities.
- Experience in program development, monitoring, and evaluation in a similar setting.
- Experience in facilitating cultural awareness training.
- Strong ability to apply Trauma and Attachment theories in a cultural context concerning child welfare and community well-being.
- Demonstrated ability to provide Cultural Leadership and direct service within the out-of-home care sector.
- Experience in supervising and leading teams
- Proven track record in capacity-building support within communities and organisations.
- Experience in addressing child welfare issues and culturally appropriate interventions.
- Extensive experience or knowledge of the out-of-home care sector.
- Current driver’s license and Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain.
