About us

QUT is a major Australian university with a global outlook and a 'real world' focus. We are an ambitious and collaborative institution that seeks to equip our students and graduates with the skills they will need in an increasingly disrupted and challenged world.

The School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences includes the disciplines of sports and exercise science, nutrition and dietetics, and health and physical education. The School offers bachelor degrees in each of the discipline areas as well as postgraduate study at Masters (research), MPhil, and PhD levels. The School has a strong research culture and expects members to undertake scholarly research and to supervise research students.

The School also has a number of strategic alliances with leading business, industry and government groups. A key aim is to deliver a high quality, sustainable practicum program that is well integrated with the overall curricula and that enhances the career prospects of our students and our reputation with our disciplines and industry partners.

The School has a significant and ongoing commitment to the QUT Health Clinics, run from a purpose built facility on the Kelvin Grove campus. The QUT Health Clinics aim to provide quality clinical education to students and quality patient care to the community in both the Exercise Physiology and Nutrition and Dietetics Clinics.

The Centre for Child Nutrition Research (CCNR) sits within the Faculty of Health and the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences. The CCNR is funded by the Children’s Hospital Foundation for four years to co-create evidence-based research to develop new knowledge to enable Queensland children to live healthier lives through better food and nutrition. It is a joint collaboration between QUT and QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute (QIMRB).

The CCNR will be based at the Centre for Children’s Health Research in South Brisbane. The Centre is required to deliver on six projects as well as build capacity and sustainability..
