The Opportunity
As a Data Engineer, you will support the growth of analytics initiatives in WesCEF by data set creation, curation and enabling analytics use case delivery, including advanced analytics, while working closely with data scientists and other key stakeholders.
Reporting to the Analytics and Development Manager as part of the wider Data and Digital team, you will work across WesCEF on a range of data and analytics projects and improvements and, given the diversity of our business portfolio, you will work with a broad range of data including multiple operational plants, weather data, and customer analytics.
Our Data & Digital team are building out advanced analytic campaigns related to production optimisation, leveraging for example computer vision and a key set of Generative AI uses cases. You will gain exposure to these projects and contribute to the transition to Azure, exploring ML Studio, Synapse and Purview.
You will leverage Azure Data Factory and Synapse to enable ETL processes, making data available in data lakes and data models. Power BI plays a critical role in data visualisations, for example plant dashboards which are developed and maintained by our team, alongside increasing use of Power Platforms.
As part of our commitment to personal research and development you will have time allocated monthly for R&D.
While this role is initially based in Murdoch, please note that our Murdoch office will be relocating to Perth CBD in late 2025.
About You
You will have demonstrated experience in Data Engineering, sound experience with data acquisition, data set process development, analytics programs, and a relevant Tertiary education.
In addition you will have:
- Significant experience with data pipelines and Data Engineering tools
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft platforms, such as Azure and Power BI
- Demonstrated experience in SQL, Python or similar languages
- A key focus on delivering value-adding solutions and understanding how your work has impact
- A customer centric approach and possess the credibility to influence at a senior level
- Contribute to a strong team culture, and collaborate in order to manage competing demands and deadlines
- Are available for travel to Murdoch and Kwinana Operations when needed.
