About the role
At L3Harris, a Senior Data Scientist is a subject matter expert, in the fields of strategic analytics and data insights. The focus of this role is to provide actionable advice, to a multi-disciplined group of engineering stakeholders, in support of strategic solutions delivery to the Australian Defence Force.
Your remit will be as broad as it is challenging. Key accountabilities may include but not be limited to;
- Researching and developing algorithms in digital signal processing, communications, navigation & target tracking, and underwater acoustics.
- Working with software engineers to implement algorithms into deployed systems.
- Developing and documenting intellectual property
- Conducting investigations and analysis activities to produce technical reports
- Supporting at-sea activities for verification and validation of L3Harris systems.
About you
To be successful in this role and to best leverage opportunities that L3Harris will provide, some of the skills & experience ideal applicants will bring include;
- Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics with minimum 5 years’ experience.
- Proficiency in MATLAB / Python for algorithm development, data analysis and visualisation.
- Proficiency in C++/C# and modern development environments
- Post-graduate qualifications in acoustics, signal processing, and digital communications is highly desirable.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills, with a proven ability to lead through influence.
- Strong verbal and written technical communication skills
