One of Australia's most progressive Federal Government departments are looking to engage an experienced Data Scientist to provide a significant contribution to innovation and data improvement strategies. The successful Data Scientist can be based out of Canberra, Sydney or Brisbane! The successful Data Scientist will be offered a 12 month contract with a 12 month extension options.
The successful Data Scientist will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.
- Partner with IT specialists, Data Engineers, Data analysts and business teams to build foundational data sets, end user analysis and visualisations
- Provide expert advice on complex data ingestion problem solving and issue management
The successful Data Scientist will have experience in the following:
- Experience working with Databricks.
- Experience working with and creating data architectures.
- Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
- Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages E.g., Python and SQL to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
- Experience in government or health sector
