Form of workWe are looking for a Database Specialist / Engineer who is looking for a new challenge in a highly challenging financial technology environment.
This team supports multiple equities, options and futures markets a part of a global engineering function. They spend significant time optimising data for increased data volumes while living and breathing reliability and automation.
You will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop and implement software applications to process and analyze real-time financial market data in a high-performance computing environment
- Maintain and optimize existing software applications, and recommend and implement improvements
- Processing, collecting and analyzing financial market data, including high frequency real-time pricing and reference data
- Monitor and improve the quality of analytical data generated from our clients applications
- Work with reference data teams to add or modify reference data sources
- Collaborate with existing Database engineering team members and work with them in upgrading PostgreSQL
- Automate/upgrade schema maintenance activity that is currently running on a schedule along with deployment of code.
We are looking for the following experience;
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field preferred.
- Min 5 years of development experience with Python or experience in another language with familiarity / a strong desire to learn Python.
- Experience managing relational databases and Postgres required.
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Familiarity with Linux or UNIX-like systems and knowledge of at least one scripting language.
- Experience with AWS cloud-based services and Snowflake data platform desired.
- Self-directed, self-motivated.
