The Role

Pembroke is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably experienced educator to undertake the fixed term (5 year) full time role of Dean of Learning Cultures and Innovation. This role is underpinned by a permanent teaching position. This is a significant role in the School community and will take an experienced leader with vision, to lead an ELC to Year 12 Learning and Caring Framework that drives innovation and change in teaching and learning and to lead, inspire and support a learning culture amongst staff. 

They will be a member of the School’s leadership team and will contribute to the strategic direction of the School, development of student policy and strengthening of the School’s culture of inclusion and belonging.

The successful candidate will co-chair the Learning Leadership Team and will work collaboratively with the Dean of Studies, Heads of Department and Head of Digital Learning and Innovation to develop, document and deliver engaging curriculum that holds Pembroke as a local and national leader in education. 

What will the role involve?

  • Develop and communicate a vision for teaching and learning at Pembroke
  • Develop and maintain a Learning Framework for a Pembroke holistic education and articulates the “learning in practice” of the School’s vision and strategic aims
  • In collaboration with curriculum leaders, work on the development of innovative curriculum
  • Work with the Dean of Studies to ensure innovation in teaching and learning is translated into processes, procedures and practices
  • Lead and evaluate the development of aspirational academic extension and enrichment programs, in liaison with the Head of Inclusive Education
  • In conjunction with the Dean of Professional Learning and Growth, facilitate teacher learning and development in the delivery of innovative curriculum
  • In conjunction with the Dean of Professional Learning and Growth, promote and facilitate a culture of observation and professional conversations to promote continuous improvement, professional development and the sharing of best practice
  • Play an active role in the Pembroke Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an excellent role model for peers and young people.  
  • Be able to demonstrate a strong understanding and analysis of contemporary pedagogy and teaching practice. 
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills with staff, students and parents. 
  • Be able to demonstrate exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.  
  • Be able to make an enthusiastic and significant leadership contribution to the whole School.  
  • Be a proactive and approachable person who welcomes and encourages collaboration with others.
  • Be able to lead and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.  
  • Be an experienced classroom teacher registered (or able to be registered) as a teacher in the State of South Australia. 
  • Have a postgraduate qualified in social and emotional learning or student wellbeing.
