AddressLinks Global Recruitment Solutions, a sister company of Linx Employment, is seeking Deck and fi shing handslocated in Northern Tasmania for an established longlining company operating within the Australian Fishing Zones.10 Full-time positions for fi shing crew are available. The Company targets Pink Ling and Blue Eye Trevalla within theSoutheast Shark and Scale Fishery, fi shing between Eden and Port Lincoln landing in NSW, Tasmania and SouthAustralia.
The longliner often operates in heavy seas, so crew members need to be strong and able to perform in tight spacesto work on deck. Crew members must also have at least three to fi ve years of relevant work experience and holdappropriate registration and / or licensing where required.
Depending on the conditions, crew members may be away from home for several weeks, sometimes months, andthere is usually only a short turnaround before heading back out to sea. The Company also maintains a drug andalcohol-free workplace, and employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Deck and Fishing Hands
Position Description
- Manage ropes and mooring equipment during berthing / unberthing procedures
- Perform lookout watches and communicate vessel’s course as directed
- Conduct routine checks and maintenance on deck equipment including ropes, nets, rigging gear as well aslifesaving and fi refi ghting apparatus
- Attach gear and fasten towing cables to nets
- Operate rigging gear as well as deploying hooks and line and then retrieving fish
- Remove catch from hooks, sort, clean, preserve, stow and refrigerate
- Assist with offl oading cargo using onboard equipment
- Mending, making and repairing fi shing gear
Selection Criteria/Skills Required
Candidates must have at least three to fi ve years of relevant work experience working as a Deckhand / FishingHand on a commercial longliner. Candidates must also possess proven hook and line skills as part of the duties required for this position will be assembling and repairing the vessels fi shing gear while berthed and at sea. Thework experience must be evidenced by a signed sea service record or logbook, and employment references willalso need to be provided.

Salary
Successful candidates will be paid a salary or percentage of catch rate as per industry standards which will benegotiated according to qualifi cations, skills, experience and performance in the same or similar occupation. Theannual salary guarantee for full time employees will fall in the range of $70,000 to $75,000 (based on a 38-hourweek).
