Job description

The Operations Directorate of Western Health is seeking three (3) Deputy Chief Operating Officers.

  • 2 x Deputy Chief Operating Officer – Clinical Services
  • 1 x Deputy Chief Operating Officer – Support Services
The Operations Directorate is one of the largest and most complex portfolios within Western Health. It is charged with providing significant amounts of Western Health’s patient care and patient contacts and as such generates a significant proportion of the revenue to support the wider operations of providing patient care to the West of Melbourne. These services range from outpatients to inpatients, theatres to Intensive Care, birthing rooms, Community health, Emergency Departments and many more services that support the catchment population of Western Health.

Western Health has grown significantly in the last 5 years with the Operations Directorate now incorporating more than 8000 employees. The Operations Directorate seeks to implement an organisational structure to adequately support the size of the directorate and strategical position the organisation for continued future growth.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer each Deputy Chief Operating Officer will have an allocated selection of Divisions and/or business units that they will be accountable and responsible for within the Operations Directorate. They will be charged with the provision of direct operational oversight and responsibility for these Divisions and/or business units. In addition to this, each Deputy Chief Operating Officer will be allocated key strategic portfolios to have oversight of or attend as a proxy to the Chief Operations Officer.
