- Work closely with the Commissioner and develop an understanding of all TEC activity in order to exercise all the powers, functions and responsibilities of the Electoral Commissioner when required.
- Provide leadership, direction and management for the development, delivery, implementation and review of strategic projects that support the high-level achievement of the TEC's functions, strategic direction and operational priorities.
- Direct and oversee parliamentary, local government and other statutory and non-statutory elections.
- Provide strategic guidance to the development, implementation and review of policies and training relating to electoral matters and electoral legislation and delivery of election events.
- Provide strategic guidance to the development, implementation and review of communications, education and engagement activities.
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight of the management of electoral legislation and advice; electoral compliance and investigation responsibilities and the Funding and Disclosure schemes established under the Electoral Disclosure and Funding Act 2022.
- Provide day-to-day leadership of the TEC, including assisting in the management and coordination of human, financial and physical resources.
- Liaise, consult and negotiate with stakeholders in the electoral process.
- Prepare reports, briefs, submissions and correspondence.
