Mudgee Public School is a regional school with approximately 585 enrolments, including 21 mainstream and 7 support classes and 117 students from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds. Mudgee PS was opened in 1855 and was the 52nd school established in NSW and still to this day maintains its beautiful heritage buildings. Our school motto is Friendship through Learning, and we aim to provide an environment that promotes the value of education and learning, to give our students the best opportunity to be active and informed members of the community. The Deputy Principal is a K-6 position with a focus on leading improvement in teaching, learning and wellbeing. It is expected that the Deputy principal promote the school’s strategic vision, which is aligned to the department’s priorities, and develop a positive school culture in partnership with the principal, staff and the school community. Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach infants and/or primary with demonstrated high level instructional leadership to collaboratively drive school strategic planning and evaluation, striving for school improvement and excellence.
Evidence of a growth-oriented and collaborative leader, with high emotional intelligence, who genuinely engages and builds strong, authentic connections with our school community, as well as the wider educational community.
Proven ability to develop self as an educational leader, as well as others by harnessing and fostering leadership capacity and development, building effective teams and enriching the school's existing high expectations culture through high-impact professional learning programs.
Outline any specific expertise or experience you would bring to this position of Deputy Principal, which specifically aligns with the vision, values and goals of Mudgee Public School.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
