Job description

We are seeking a Deputy Principal to join the Senior Leadership Team of Queensland Children's Hospital School (QCHS) and will report through the Campus Principal, Jacaranda Place, to the Executive Principal QCHS. This is a temporary part-time position (0.2 FTE) commencing 15 April 2024 until 13 December 2024, unless otherwise determined.

About Us:

The Department of Education is committed to developing and implementing a statewide continuum of educational delivery to ensure that students with chronic health or complex mental health conditions receive specialised and appropriate educational support at all stages of their illness.
Queensland Children's Hospital School leads this work and supports 25 sites across Queensland - 6 campuses in Brisbane, 16 campuses across other Regions, and other sites as part of the virtual hospital education program - where students who are affected by hospitalisation (or attending a long-term mental health treatment program) can continue in their education and have a seamless transition back to school or onto another learning pathway.
Students may be from Kindy to Year 12 and may be from the state, Catholic or independent sector. Our programs implement the Australian Curriculum, catering for each student's individual needs, and work closely with students' base schools to ensure continuity of education and successful transitions.

About the Role:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Support the Deputy Principal (0.8), Identity and Partnerships across Queensland Hospital Education Programs
  • Support v9AC implementation for staff in paediatric wards in hospital education programs across Qld
  • Support the organisational and operational procedures in paediatric wards in hospital education programs across Qld
  • Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience in School Leadership and knowledge and skills in implementing v9AC.

An additional requirement - Vaccination against Preventable Diseases

  • This position requires the successful applicant to work in hospital and health settings, which have additional workplace requirements from Queensland Health. It is mandatory for all roles that come into direct contact with patients to provide evidence of vaccination or proof of non- susceptibility for the following preventable diseases: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (chickenpox), Pertussis (whooping cough).
  • The successful applicant will be provided with official forms to be taken to their local GP for completion and boosters as required. The expectation is that staff have commenced this process before their first work day at QCHS. Any out-of-pocket costs are refunded to staff through QCHS reimbursement processes.
