About the Role
The primary purpose of the role is to work with Council’s Development Assessment team and provide engineering advice regarding proposed and future developments.
  
Duties

  • Lead and offer engineering services across the Council consistent with the Community Strategic Plan, Workplace Environment Statement and legislative requirements
  • Offer strategic engineering support for new subdivision development in the region in areas such as flooding, drainage, asset management, design, traffic management, road safety
  • Coordinate and deliver timely engineering counsel ensuring development assessment, subdivision release processes meet statutory requirements
  • Develop strategies, policies and standards for land use planning linked to Council’s Strategic Plan
  • Report on WHS policies and procedures within their area of responsibility
  • Liaise with developers to work on wide range of projects like drains/roads/ buildings/airport/shopping centres etc.
    Essential Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent recognized by the institute of Engineers Australia
  • Extensive experience in engineering related role with knowledge of key legislation and Development Assessments as it relates to this role
  • Some local experience preferred
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead, manage and motivate others
  • Advanced public relations and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to Project Manage; including budgeting and contract administration and knowledge of development assessment processes
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety responsibilities
  • Current Class C Driver Licence
